History of Taunagh Parish Church, Riverstown

19 August, 8pm - 8:30pm

  • Sligo Folk Park
  • Riverstown
  • F52TX06
  • Co. Sligo

Taunagh Church, built in the early 1800s, has withstood all the elements of severe weather over this long period. But now after very recent storms, it needs to be reroofed as the slates and ridge tiles have become loose.

A talk on the Church, will be given by John Taylor on Wednesday night 19th August at 8pm in Sligo Folk Park, Riverstown. This talk will include the families and clergy of this old parish. Records of the old church go back to 1333 with the Vicars/Clergy of 700 years. On display during the night will be the chalice (dated 1726) from the old church at Taunagh. Families not forgotten will be remembered as their descendants are now around the world.
Following this, there will be a talk on John Francis Taylor by Des Gunning.

Refreshments in the Millstone Cafe at 10pm.
