Heritage through Hands: Upcycling Celtic Traditions.

Discover how traditional heritage and sustainable creativity can come together in one inspiring workshop.

The session will begin with a short talk by Alisa Blinova, who will introduce participants to Celtic heritage, seasonal celebrations, traditional symbolism, and the meaning of Celtic knots in Irish culture. Participants will learn how these ancient patterns have been used for centuries to represent eternity, connection, and the cycles of life.

Following the heritage talk, Iryna Kolotii, creative facilitator and leader of the Eco Craft Laboratory – Heritage through Hands programme, will guide participants through a practical upcycling workshop. Using paper cord made from recycled paper shopping bags, participants will create their own Celtic Knot earrings while learning simple techniques that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern sustainable design.

The workshop demonstrates how traditional skills can be preserved and reinterpreted using recycled materials, encouraging people to value both cultural heritage and environmental responsibility.

This event is suitable for adults and young people (16+). No previous experience is required, and all materials will be provided.
