Heritage Seed Saving workshop
Back to our Roots Garden Seed Saving workshop with Organic Tutor Roisin Cotter at her Organic Garden at Carrickcarnan Dundalk Co Louth
Seed saving was a vital activity for all agricultural societies around the world.
With the advent of seed merchants and then mail order seed companies, many home growers lost the knowledge of how to save our own seeds and with that many valuable varieties of crops became extinct.
Being able to save your own seeds from your own garden is a skill that allows you to become more intune with nature and the natural cycles of life.
Seeds from your own garden will adapt to your own unique growing conditions and perform much better than most seed you can buy, much of which is imported from countries with very different growing conditions to ours. We will learn how to save seeds from a variety of plants and you will take home a selection of home saved seeds to grow yourself.
