Greenings - A Community Project
Rachel Loughrey – an environmental designer, maker, and community builder who believes in breathing new life into old spaces. Rachel’s work blends creativity with sustainability, helping communities imagine what’s possible when we reuse, repair, and rethink the way we live.
Join us for a hands-on day exploring how we can reimagine our spaces, streets, and communities through the principles of the circular economy and green building.
We’ll start with an interactive introduction to how reusing materials, adapting existing buildings, and rethinking our streets can reduce waste and create thriving, community-focused places. After lunch, we’ll head out for a creative site walk, mapping and sketching ideas for transforming vacant spaces into vibrant, sustainable spots – from rooftop rainwater harvesting and pocket parks to reuse hubs and permaculture-inspired designs.
Back at The Nest, we’ll share our visions, spark conversation, and plan next steps to make change happen.
Free to attend – and lunch is provided. Bring your imagination, curiosity, and love for Sligo.
