Granny knew best. Old cures told again.

Join John Moulden for an engaging presentation and talk on old cures and remedies that were once part of everyday life in Donegal.
Drawing on local memory, folklore and traditional knowledge, John will explore how people in the locality turned to the land, the hedgerow and the kitchen cupboard when someone fell ill or got a scrape.

He will share stories and examples of plants, herbs and simple practices that were used for coughs, aches, and seasonal ailments.
John will speak about the connection between place and healing and how the knowledge of local flora and fauna was woven into daily routines long before the chemist shop was widely available.
John brings the subject to life with his own quirky charm and good sense of humour.

After the presentation there will be time open to questions and contributions.
If you have a remedy you remember from home, a family saying, or a question about a plant or practice, John would love to hear it.

The event is free, so come along for an afternoon of history, nature, and shared memories.

A quick note before anyone heads to the fields or hedgerows: these are old cures and stories, not medical advice.
They haven’t been tested in the lab or recommended by anyone in a white coat.
Please don’t try them at home. If you are unwell, check with a medical professional and leave the experimenting in the past!
