General Michael Collins & President Arthur Griffith Commemoration

The Collins Griffith Commemoration Society warmly invites the public to the annual commemoration honouring the lives and legacies of General Michael Collins and President Arthur Griffith, two of the most significant figures in modern Irish history.

Taking place at Glasnevin Cemetery on Sunday, 16 August 2026, this year’s ceremony will feature a keynote oration by Senator Michael McDowell and an address by historian Professor Michael Laffan.

The commemoration will also include a Defence Forces procession, wreath-laying ceremonies, the Last Post and Reveille, and the National Anthem.

The ceremony begins at 1.00pm, with attendees asked to be in place by 12.45pm.

This is a non-political commemoration, open to all, providing an opportunity to remember and reflect upon the lives, achievements and enduring historical legacies of Michael Collins and Arthur Griffith.

The event is free and everyone is very welcome to attend.

This is a free public commemoration and all are welcome. The event will take place outdoors at Glasnevin Cemetery, so attendees are advised to dress appropriately for the weather.
