Fá Bhruach an Chladaigh: Taisce Téarmaíochta Farraige i nGaeilge Uladh, A Treasury of Maritime Terminology in Ulster Irish written by Shrove native Cormac Mac Giolla Easbuig is a fascinating collection of vocabulary, idioms, and terminology relating to the sea, full of expressions gathered along the Donegal coast from seafarers from Teileann to Inis Eoghain and beyond. It is the most comprehensive collection of coastal terminology from Donegal published to date and a valuable treasure that preserves an important aspect of its heritage.
Join us on Monday, 17th August at 1.30pm in Central Library for this bilingual event to explore the people, landscapes, objects and stories that inspired the creation of Cormac’s landmark work on our maritime heritage. Refreshments will be served. Bígí linn!
