As part of National Heritage Week 2025, Youghal Clock Gate Tower is delighted to open its doors for a special day of free guided tours on Thursday, 21st August 2025.
This iconic 700-year-old landmark, standing proudly at the heart of Youghal’s historic town centre, has witnessed centuries of fascinating history – from its origins as a medieval gatehouse to its later life as a gaol, family home, and now one of Ireland’s most unique visitor attractions.
Throughout the day, visitors will enjoy engaging guided tours led by our expert storytellers, bringing to life the many remarkable tales of the Clock Gate Tower and the people who lived and worked within its walls. From dramatic events of war and rebellion to everyday stories of trade, industry and community, each tour provides a vivid insight into Youghal’s rich heritage.

Tours will run on the hour, every hour from 11 am with the last tour at 4pm, offering a wonderful opportunity for both locals and visitors to step back in time and discover this captivating piece of Ireland’s past.
Admission is free for one day only, but places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
