Framing Nature in Blue: Cyanotypes
Join eco-artist Kathy Kirwan for a hands-on cyanotype workshop inspired by the flora of the Caha mountains. In this immersive 2-hour session, you’ll learn the beautiful, historical process of cyanotype printing—also known as "blueprinting"—using light-sensitive materials and natural plant specimens.
You'll begin by identifying and sensitively gathering flora from the surrounding landscape, guided by Kathy’s insights into the ecology of the area. Then, you'll create your own unique cyanotype prints, capturing the delicate forms and shadows of native plants in vibrant shades of indigo blue. To complete the experience, each participant will frame a chosen print with sustainably sourced local wood, connecting your artwork even more deeply to place.
