In Fingal we have strong tradition of horticultural, farming and fishing. Our food heritage encompasses everything from grandparent’s recipes, cooking and utensils, traditional ways of farming and fishing, to folklore, the famine, and fieldnames.
Kick off Heritage Week 2025 at the Swords Castle Food Market with a talk on Fingal's Food Heritage with Christine Baker, Heritage Officer. Explore our history of food in Fingal and how our relationship with food has changed. From marrow jam and snigging turnips to soda bread and carbonara, share your food memories and recipes!

Step into the historic grounds of Swords Castle and discover a vibrant new food market. Then listen to a food & drink-themed talk in the Chapel on the grounds of the castle. Entry is free.
