Fermoy in the 1926 Census with Bill Power MA

The 1926 Census when compared to the 1911 Census reveals how life in Fermoy changed after the end of British rule. Bill will look at some of those changes, and focus on a few of the families and businesses in the town after the departure of its garrison in 1922. He will also look at a number of the pitfalls, the surprises and the difficulties awaiting those researching the 1926 Census.

Bill Power MA is an historian and author of 17 books including ‘The Blackwater, History and Images from the Irish Rhine,’ ‘Fermoy on the Blackwater,’ ‘White Knights, Dark Earls’ and ‘Vagabonds, Thieves and Troublemakers’. His forthcoming book is ‘Shroudless, Coffinless Graves, North-East Cork in the Great Famine’.
