Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival was founded in 1976 to preserve the farming methods and country life traditions of towns, villages and townlands. The festival has collected over 1,000 pieces of machinery, household artifacts, hand tools and commercial items.
The purpose built Moynalty Steam Threshing Museum is located on the festival grounds in Moynalty. This is the only museum of farming life in Co. Meath and one of the largest collections held by a community organisation in Ireland. The museum collection includes a portable steam engine, Horse Drawn Farm machinery, Threshing Machine, collection of hand tools from all trades, shoemaker shop, glass and ceramic collections, radios and early electronics, printing press and country style kitchen with dresser.
