
Exploring the Prehistoric Landscape of the Lost Valley
This remote and scenic valley in the foothills of the Shehy Mountains contains a plethora of prehistoric sites. We will visit a wide variety of these on a short hill-walk (2.5 hours). We’ll explore how this landscape would have appeared through the eyes of Ireland’s early farmers.
Terrain: forest road, boreen, tarred road and turf tracks with some open mountain.
Essential: Boots, waterproof clothing.
Leader: Catherine Ketch, a historical geographer based in Ballyvourney Co Cork who runs the guided walking service Lee Valley Walking.
