10:00-Noon Workshop
Master Beekeeper Bernie O'Reilly will be hosting a morning workshop - 'Is Beekeeping For Me?' to teach interested people of all ages and backgrounds about what it takes to become a beekeeper. (Booking Needed)
13:00 - 16:00 Open Day
The afternoon is open to the public to explore our indoor learning centre complete with a glass 'Observation Bee Hive' to see the bees at work! There will also be honey tasting, traditional wax candle making demonstrations and Q&A with the beekeepers.
Local boatbuilder Eamon Sheridan will be demonstrating his work building a traditional Wooden 'Clinker' Boat by hand - an almost extinct craft in Ireland today. Eamon is a sixth generation boat builder based in Mountnugent.
Local artist, poet and Gaelgeoir Sean O'hUltachain will be leading a 'Siuloid Gaeilge' - a short walk around the lakeshore where people are encouraged to speak 'cupla focal' in a friendly atmosphere while taking in the beautiful surrounds of Lough Sheelin.
Instrument maker Barry O'Reilly will be exhibiting his work on handmade instruments using timeless methods and traditional hand tools.

'Is Beekeeping For Me' Workshop will take place from 10:00 - 12:00 Noon.
Bookings are taken through Johnston Library, Cavan Town and the workshop is free of charge to participants.
Candlemaking demonstrations will be 20-minute demos held at intervals throughout the open house afternoon.
Other crafts and demos will be ongoing throughout the afternoon.
