Exploring Athlone Town Wall

Did you know that Athlone boasts the only surviving 17th century town wall in
the Republic of Ireland?
Join local Historian Gearoid O’Brien and Heritage Officer Melanie McQuade for a guided walk around the standing remains of Athlone Town Wall. Hear about the history of the town defences, recent conservation works completed on the wall and plans for future conservation. There will be an opportunity to see parts of the Town Wall not usually accessible to the public.
