Echoes of Ireland and Europe: Music Through the Ages.
Celebrate National Heritage Week 2026 with an evening of music that explores the rich cultural connections between Ireland and Europe. Echoes of Ireland and Europe: Music Through the Ages takes audiences on a musical journey from medieval times to the present day, showcasing how traditional and classical influences have evolved and intertwined across centuries.
Taking place on Sunday 23 August 2026 from 7pm–8pm at the Loughrea Hotel & Spa, this free concert will feature acclaimed musicians Padraig Connaughton and Madeline Fleming, joined by Gerry Fahy on keyboard.
Through a varied and engaging programme, the performers will highlight musical traditions, styles and melodies that have shaped Ireland’s cultural heritage while reflecting wider European influences. The event offers a unique opportunity to experience music as a living part of our shared heritage, demonstrating how songs, tunes and musical traditions have travelled across borders and generations. Audience members of all ages are welcome to enjoy this inspiring performance in a relaxed and welcoming setting.Food and refreshments will be served following the concert.
This free event is organised by the Loughrea Medieval Festival Committee and Galway County Council and is funded by Galway County Council and The Heritage Council as part of National Heritage Week 2026.
