Join historian and archaeologist Michael Holohan for an exploration of Drogheda's rich maritime heritage and its historic connections with Europe.

In medieval times, the walled town of Drogheda was one of Ireland's most important ports, trading with major centres including Bordeaux, Lisbon, Bristol, Chester and Gdansk.

This talk will examine how national events shaped Drogheda's fortunes as a maritime power and will highlight recent archaeological and maritime discoveries connected with the River Boyne.

Drawing on years of research into the history of Drogheda Port, Michael offers a fascinating insight into the town's role in Ireland's cultural and trading heritage.
