Dessie’s Glentogher Walk; Where History Feels at Home

16 August, 10am - 1pm

  • The Colgan Hall
  • Carndonagh, Co. Donegal, Ireland
  • F93 VH59
  • Co. Donegal

Join Dessie McCallion for a walk and talk through Glentogher, one of the most beautiful valleys in Inishowen.

We will follow the Bridle Trail and visit ancient wedge tombs, a sacred holy well, known locally as Ardnapaeste, where St Patrick banished the serpent that presided over the Glen, and the warty rock to name a few places of interest along the way.
Each site is linked by stories passed down through the generations, and Dessie shares them in his warm and personable style.

Along the way Dessie will also talk about the local flora and fauna, and how plants and natural remedies were used for healing and cures locally.
With stunning views and peaceful surroundings, it is a walk that connects you to both place and heritage.

Coach departs Colgan Hall at 10:00 AM. €5 per person.

Telephone 00353874409767 or email heritagecolgan@gmail.com to book your seat. Please wear sensible walking shoes and we suggest that you avoid shorts as the insects may be out and about!

After we return at 1pm, enjoy a well-earned cup of tea or coffee and light refreshments at Colgan Hall.
