Join alternative photographer Émile Crowther in Kilmainham Gaol to explore cyanotype printing, a 19th Century photography technique. This workshop is inspired by Kilmainham Gaol’s current exhibition of photographs secretly taken and developed in the prison during the Irish War of Independence. Participants can bring along a digital photograph they wish to print from their phone, or, alternatively, have a prison photo on the day. These images will then be turned into cyanotype prints which will be developed using the UV light from the sun. This is a fun and easy way to learn about an old photographic technique, combining contemporary images with pioneering technology from the industrial revolution.
Participants under 18 much be accompanied by an adult.
