Creation of a Local Tapestry in Dunshaughlin, Co Meath
We are inviting participants to take part in the creation of a unique community Heritage Week Tapestry by holding a workshop where their stitching will be part of the tapestry. As the Boyne river rises in Carbury, Co Kildare, flows through Meath to reach the sea in Mornington Co Louth we are particularly encouraging stitchers from these 3 counties. However, everyone irrespective of where they are from is welcome to participate. Prior to the workshop we can engage with interested participants to discuss what is involved and allow them to practice their stitching.
We have designed the tapestry so that stitchers of all levels, young and old can take part. We commit to supporting the participants in whatever way is necessary for them to be part of this unique tapestry before and during the workshop.
No experience is necessary and all equipment will be supplied.
Following the workshop, members of the Threads of Lore will bring all the work together to create the finished piece of work.
The names of all participants will be recorded for posterity, and the finished tapestry will be used in promotional events for the larger 'Boyne in Threads tapestry.
The workshop is on Thursday August 20th from 4-6pm in the Dunshaughlin Pastoral Centre, Co Meath A85 PH90.
Light refreshments will be provided. Children are welcome to participate but all children must be accompanied by an adult.
