Monaghan Heritage Launch Day

Join us at Lough Muckno, Castleblayney, for the launch of Monaghan Heritage Week and a fantastic day of family fun and discovery!

Visit the Big Dig at the Walled Garden from 11am–3pm, where children can excavate for artefacts. Session times 11am, 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm. Participants can also take part in coin-making and coin pouch-making workshops, creating their own unique souvenirs to bring home.

At Castleblayney Library, enjoy heritage storytelling sessions with Francis McCarron at 10.30am, 11.15am and 12 noon, inspired by his local heritage trails.

The library will also launch its Heritage Scavenger Hunt, running throughout Heritage Week. Heritage Explorers will journey through the history and stories of Castleblayney as they follow clues inspired by the town’s old streets, historic buildings, beautiful park, and local landmarks. Along the way, they'll discover fascinating facts about the people, places, and events that have shaped the town over the years! Pick up a Heritage Scavenger Hunt form in Castleblayney Library and return it completed for a chance to win prizes. Can you solve the clues, complete the trail, and become a Castleblayney Heritage Explorer?
