Community Oyster Art Workshop

Discover how art and science can come together to support marine conservation at Sea Synergy's Community Oyster Art Workshop, delivered in collaboration with BEAG – Ballinskelligs Tidy Towns.

Using recycled oyster and scallop shells, participants will create unique underwater sculptures inspired by native oyster reefs while learning about the ecological importance of Ireland's native oyster and the restoration work taking place in Portmagee Channel.

Throughout the workshop, Sea Synergy's team will introduce participants to the fascinating role oysters play in improving water quality, supporting biodiversity, and creating habitats for other marine species. No previous artistic experience is needed, and all materials will be provided, making this a fun and engaging activity for families, individuals and anyone with an interest in creativity and the environment.

Participants will leave with their own artwork and a greater understanding of how local conservation projects are helping to restore one of Ireland's most valuable marine habitats.

This workshop is funded by the River Basin Management Service (RBMS) and delivered in collaboration with BEAG – Ballinskelligs Tidy Towns as part of Sea Synergy's Heritage Week programme, celebrating Ireland's coastal heritage through creativity, education and community engagement.
