'Come Fly with Me' Limited Edition Print Launch

Join us to celebrate the launch of a new limited edition letterpress print from the National Print Museum.

The exhibition 'Come Fly With Me: Aviation, tourism and Irish design' examines Irish cultural history through the exploration of aviation - and tourism-related graphic design. It focuses on the 1940s through to the 1960s, a period that marked the golden era of international aviation expansion. This exhibition uses flight as a central thread to explore how design and print helped construct national identity, promote Irish modernisation and position Ireland internationally.

Responding to this exhibition, the designer Niall McCormack has created a new artwork which has been printed in-house on the Museum's Vandercook #4 printing press by our Letterpress Learning Officer, Mary Plunkett. Niall, who also designed the exhibition for curator Dr Linda King, will talk about this design process and how it was translated into the limited edition print. Mary will then demonstrate the printing process and the print will be launched for sale.

The Letterpress Learning Officer role is supported by the Heritage Council's Heritage Organisation's Support Fund.

Accessibility
This event is conducted on the ground floor, where visitors will also find the Reception, Museum Shop, permanent exhibition, toilets, and Café. The ground floor is fully accessible to wheelchair users. Entry for wheelchairs is via the Café.

The exhibition takes place on a mezzanine level which is, unfortunately, only accessible by stairs.

The Museum welcomes guide and service dogs.
