Churchtown, Athy Quilting Exhibition

In line with this year’s theme “Exploring our Foundations” members from our community have been busy creating a quilted tapestry that will find a permanent home on display, in our renovated old school at Churchtown, which is now our Churchtown Community Hub. The quilted tapestry illustrates the journey from our old single room Churchtown National School to the modern Churchtown National School. The project has introduced members of our community to the skills around quilting, sewing and patchwork and has provided a project that allows people come together, meet, socialise, work together and learn together, make new friendships and renew old friendships..
