Tours of Christ Church Bray, a landmark building for over 160 years
Wherever you are in the town of Bray, if you look up you are likely to see the outline of Christ Church against the skyline. It is tempting to consider this Church of Ireland building simply as an orientation point. This Heritage week, why not step inside and join us for a guided tour? We will walk around this Gothic revival building and talk about the clergy, Rev. George Scott and his son, Rev. Digby Scott and the local residents who aided in the building and enhancement of the church at a time when Bray was growing from a village into a town. Learn the origins of the Bray Art Furniture industry in a woodcarving class for choirboys set up in the 1880s. Admire the intricate walnut carvings adorning choir stalls and organ. Hear the stories of those who gave their lives in wartime and are remembered on our stained glass windows and memorials.
