Explore the hidden lives of that native plants that have a home on Esk Mountain from Royal Fern to Sundews & Devil’s-bit Scabious with botanist Phoebe O’Brien. Learn how to use hand lenses & ID cards to enjoy their unique details & identify your finds.

ABOUT YOUR GUIDE

Phoebe O’Brien is an ecologist and botanist specialising in Irish grasslands and native flora. She is a Vice County Recorder for County Clare with the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland and works with farmers, landowners and public bodies across Ireland and through her work with Great Irish Grasslands. Phoebe has a particular interest in semi-natural grasslands, wet habitats and the plants that thrive in Ireland’s acidic uplands to species-rich meadows. Her work focuses on understanding how these landscapes function and how they can be managed in ways that support biodiversity.

ABOUT THE VENUE

Esk Mountain is a 270 acre nature restoration project on the Cork-Kerry border offering immersive experiences, stays & products made from & for the land.

2hr guided botany walk of Esk Mountain nature trails led by Phoebe O’Brien
Optional Add-on: Join for a special two-course fireside dinner celebrating wild August flavours freshly foraged on Esk Mountain

Selection of products made from the land will be on display & available for purchase with 100% of profits returned to support the nature restoration work on site.

3.30pm: Arrivals

4-6pm: Guided botany walk with Phoebe O’Brien €15.

6-8pm: OPTIONAL add on: Two-course fireside dinner €35.
