- H65 H578
- Co. Galway – County
The event is the launch of a new book by Michael J. Hurley and the Lackagh Museum & Community Development Association on the subject of the Townland of Lackaghbeg in the parish of Lackagh, Co. Galway. Ronan Lardner of Galway Bay FM will perform the launch ceremony.
The book details the old Bodkin landlord's ownership of the lands and the subsequent purchase by erstwhile tenants. Lackaghbeg featured a village which was no more than a traditional Clachán, and this is still regarded as the centre of the townland. Before the canalising of the River Clare, the farmlands hereabouts were prone to severe flooding, but now the farming community enjoys rich farmlands.
The book features many photographs of former residents, many of whom have now gone ar slí na Firinne.
