Athlone, the Birthplace of Modern Music

Join us for a talk by musician Tadhg Kelleher on Athlone rich musical heritage. Tadhg has played in several local rock bands, dating back to the 1990s and in 2005, he founded the Athlone School of Music in Monksland. The talk will tell the untold story of Athlone's musical heritage, beginning with Patrick Keating the legendary bandmaster, to Athlone's most beloved son, John McCormack. The talk will Focus on figures such as Michael Kilkelly Henry Foy and the Athlone Pipers.
