Mapping, Memories and the Next Chapter at Limbrick

About the Event: Join us for an afternoon and evening exploring the history and landscape of Limbrick. Building on the discoveries of the first phase of Ar Lorg Luimneach Laighean, this year’s event will introduce Phase 2 of the project. The new phase places Limbrick within its wider North Wexford landscape through mapping of sites at Pallis and Tinnock. This year, with support from Wexford CoCo we even have a community archaeological dig in plan at Limbrick to help date the structures and features we have found.

4.00-6.00 pm: Field-name mapping and storytelling : Drop into our open afternoon and help us record the traditional names associated with the fields around Limbrick and Kilanerin. Large maps will be available, and members of the team will be on hand to help locate and record places. We are particularly interested in traditional field and place names. People are welcome to bring old maps, photographs, documents or simply their own memories. All are welcome, every contribution helps.

7-8.30 pm: Project update and community discussion: In the evening, the project team and specialists will provide an accessible update on:
• what was discovered during Phase 1 and what Phase 2 is investigating;
• new documentary and landscape findings;
• overview of the Drone/LiDAR survey and the sites we are focusing on;
• plans for a community archaeological excavation in September

| Free admission | All welcome | Refreshments available throughout|
