Roscommon Town Decarbonising Zone (DZ) is a climate initiative to gather communities & individuals together & develop projects in support of halting biodiversity loss, reducing carbon emissions & adapting to the effects of climate change.

Join us at the DZ expo at Roscommon Agricultural show, exploring the theme of “Heritage at Risk” for talks & demo's on the threats to our way of life posed by the effects of climate change, how we can address them & how you can get involved. Experts will be available to give advice, discuss projects & signpost how you can take part in securing a climate-ready future.

11.00– 12.00 Biodiversity & Nature based solutions in Roscommon Town:
See how simple, practical measures can support biodiversity and water quality. The Local Authority Waters Programme will be on hand with demo's & the RCC Biodiversity Officer will outline how the Local Biodiversity Plan, National Pollinator initiatives & traditional maintenance methods promote biodiversity in the DZ.

13.00 – 15.00 Demonstration Kitchen - Reducing food waste & eating more sustainably:
A local chef & educator will give a talk and demo of how we can reduce our carbon footprint & reduce food waste while improving our nutrition. Not to be missed!

15.00 – 16.00 Energy Efficiency & Retrofits in Heritage Buildings:
Conservation experts will give an outline of key considerations in the sensitive retrofit of heritage buildings. Info will be available on SEAI, Vacant Homes and Living Over the Shop schemes.

Experts will be available all day to answer questions and give advice, along with a range of engaging information and stands.

This event is part of Roscommon Agricultural Show. Attendance is FREE but registration is essential – tickets received from Eventbrite on registration can be presented at the Agricultural Show gate for free admission.
