A glimpse into Headfort House

Headfort House, on the outskirts of Kells, County Meath, is one of Ireland's great Georgian houses, built in the 1770s for Thomas Taylour, 1st Earl of Bective, to designs by the Irish architect George Semple, with the triumphal entrance bridge and gates added by Thomas Cooley. Its true treasure lies within: a suite of state rooms decorated by the celebrated Scottish architect Robert Adam, the only significant body of his work to survive intact in Ireland, including the remarkable "Eating Parlor," restored with support from the Irish Georgian Society and the World Monuments Fund. For National Heritage Week, Headfort House will open its doors for guided tours and talks, offering visitors a rare opportunity to step inside this extraordinary neoclassical interior and explore over 250 years of Irish architectural and family history.
