History Talks Presents: Michael Collins and the Financial War. Dr. Andrew McCarthy examines Collins' role as Minister for Finance & how this may have encouraged his fatal journey to Cork in Aug 1922.
During the revolutionary years 1919-1922 Michael Collins was Minister for Finance for the First Dáil. Dr. Andrew McCarthy of the School of History, UCC, will discuss Collins' role as head of Finance, including the raising of the Dáil Loan and tracking down anti-Treaty funds during the Civil War which encouraged his ill-fated final journey to Cork in August 1922.
