A 40-minute presentation by Aine Kelly Bonnefoy followed by a discussion. Learn about the strange peregrinations of the sons of Geoffrey and Matilda de Geneville, Lord and Lady of Trim Castle.

Unravelling a mystery: new research on Geoffrey de Geneville reveals the presence of his coat of arms in French and Italian records as well as in England. It is found in French armorials, a nobleman’s house in central Italy and churches in Naples. A strange quartering of the coat of arms was recorded by Michael Potterton in ‘Medieval Trim: History and Archaeology’.
