Roscommon Historical Group
Roscommon Historical Group plan to gather the names of Roscommon men who died in world conflicts or at home. There are over 530 from the First World War, 35 from the Second World War and three members of An Garda Síochána who were killed, one in the Congo conflict and two in the Troubles. It is our intention to place a memorial wall to these people in the grounds of the park in Boyle by using the plinth of the now missing statue of Kink William of Orange. It is an open space and would complement the King House centre as written material about the people listed would be available for research and educational purposes. At the same time the work would restore the plinth and make it a point of historical interest.
