‘Place of writing’: Seamus Heaney and Wicklow

Kathryn McCance
Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again

Join Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again for a National Heritage Week lecture in which they explore the influence of Wicklow on Seamus Heaney’s poetry. Seamus Heaney lived in Glanmore Cottage in Wicklow from 1972-76, later purchasing this cottage in 1988. He said ‘Glanmore saved my creative life’ helping him to mature as a poet, and explore new avenues in his work. This lecture will explore Heaney’s time in Wicklow, the poetry he wrote there, and how this influence lingered on in his later works.
