Galway Hooker Sailing Club & Galway Atlantaquaria invites members of the public to join us on Grattan Beach, Salthill for a wonderful Heritage Week event. This event will explore the rich history of sailing in Galway Bay and talk about our most favourite Pirate, Grace O’Malley - Gráinne Ní Mháille, with an educational beach safari to finish our heritage week celebration. Our heritage week event takes place on Friday 21st of August at 12.30pm. Meeting point, on Grattan Beach, Salthill beside the lifeguard station. Garry Kendellen, of Galway Atlantaquaria said, “We are all intrinsically connected to the ocean and its rich heritage by our proximity to the sea, it is part of our identity and who we are as Galway people. We need to remember our rich and colourful history, so we can maintain our clean and healthy seas for the next generation”.
