Spreading the Words (a project of the electronic dictionary of the Irish language)
‘Horrible Histories of Lough Neagh’ brings together three heritage projects: Spreading the Words (a project of the electronic Dictionary of the Irish Language), the Northern Ireland Place-Name Project and Unlocking the Vikings. Explore names, legends and historical records to catch glimpses of medieval lives lived in and around the lough. Delivered entirely online, this collaborative project begins as a social media campaign, tagged #horriblehistories and #horriblestories, and culminates in an online interactive ‘Ask the Audience’ quiz, which will provide a unique opportunity for anyone, anywhere, to test their knowledge of the darker history of Lough Neagh. The quiz will be held on the evening of Friday, 31 July, and will be suitable for older children and adults.
