'Golden Communities - the heritage of our places'

Anne-Marie Ward
Cavan Heritage Office & Templeport Heritage Group

Cavan Golden Way is an initiative for rural communities developed by the Heritage Office of Cavan County Council and supported by the Heritage Council. The initiative assists local rural communities to identify outstanding country walks in their local areas, it promotes best practice in recording and management of rural heritage features along these rural walks, it recognises and rewards the efforts made by rural communities in conserving the heritage of these walks and it provides a heritage rich environment for recreational walking / exercise for residents and visitors. Cavan Heritage Office & Templeport Heritage Group's heritage project entails showcasing a creative project which their golden ways have engaged in across the county. 'The Line Templeport' (Golden Way) will be taken as an example of a group which worked with creatives through a series of workshops. The creatives have assisted the group to respond to all aspects of heritage along their golden way. This creative way of thinking has enabled this group to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. During National Heritage Week 2020 the project will be made available online. In addition, the resultant artwork will be exhibited.
