Footprints on the Shoreline.

Bill Daly
Oughterard Culture & Heritage Group

Oughterard Culture & Heritage Group's project seeks to explore and celebrate the first settlers who arrived in Oughterard over 7,000 years ago during the Mesolithic period and settled on the banks of the Owenriff River and Lough Corrib. It will tell this story through the lens of replica archaeological material that has been crafted for this period. The project will also look at the tradition of Mesolithic fishing into the early part of the 20th century and to the present day. There will also be a coming of age story for a young Mesolithic boy to include our younger audience. The project will be presented online on the Oughterard Courthouse website.
