The Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience
This project, organised by the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience will explore the folklore of the Cliffs of Moher and how a cultural understanding can develop through this folklore; the project will explore traditions in the locality, particularly that of St. Brigid’s Well, and how such heritage feeds the creative mind - inspiring artists, musicians, poets, folklorists, etc.; great local minds with a special focus on Cornelius O’Brien’s creations with Liscannor Stone; J.P. Holland’s invention of the submarine; and Dr Eamon Doyle on geology, art and appreciation of our landscape and heritage. What to expect: • An introduction video to Heritage Week 2020 at The Cliffs of Moher • Interweaving of topics • Videos featuring folklore, history, traditional music • A preparation research paper using various resources, including The Schools' Collection • Signage to promote displays (e.g. J.P. Holland exhibit), musicians and craftspeople • Posts on our Cliffs of Moher Social Media • Interviews of buskers and craftspeople • PowerPoints displayed in the visitor centre focused on St. Brigid’s Well; Traditional Music at the Cliffs; Great Local Minds - Past to Present: O’Brien, Holland & Doyle • A montage of photographs from our Heritage Week 2020 • Adherence to Covid-19 social distancing.
