Crossmolina Community Council

Local photographic exhibition. This is a unique opportunity to view a large collection of photographs depicting scenes from Crossmolina and its hinterland from the early 1900s taken by a local photographer, J.J. Leonard. Some of these photographs have never been seen by the public and are sure to create a huge interest. Learning from the past, through the lens of this photographer is a key element. This collection depicts our cultural, social and political landscape as well as the physical across the early decades of the 20th century. It will clearly exhibit the sweeping changes in all realms of life in the community of Crossmolina and North Mayo area. Lectures and workshops will form part of the programme. There will be an opportunity for the public to bring in their own old photographs, and sharing of information will form a key part of this event. It is aimed at all age groups. Links will be made available with National Museum of Ireland, Country Life.
