Celebrating our food heritage through traditional recipes and short stories

Sarah Gillespie
Camphill the Bridge Community

Cookery is ‘the poetry of housework’ Inspired by Rathangan born Maura Laverty - Ireland’s first celebrity chef, we are calling on you to delve into your family’s pantry of recipes, dust down your granny’s cookbook, ring up that grand-aunt who makes the beautiful scones and put those COVID 19 lockdown skills to good use. We are looking for recipes with a heritage, which have been made with pride and love over the years. At a time where air miles weren’t an issue, economy was a virtue and vegetables came from your back garden. In the spirit of Laverty, the recipe should be accompanied by a written piece - fictional or non fictional, based on the recipe. The piece should be no longer than a thousand words. The providence of the recipe should be provided, i.e. where they came from as well as a picture of the dish. A selection of the recipes received with accompanying literature, will be uploaded on to the Camphill the Bridge Community website for heritage week, where they can be viewed. Submission should be sent to: sarah.gillespie.thebridge@camphill.ie
