This project has a cultural focus. It builds on the idea that there is a lot to be learned about our heritage from our songs, stories and shared memories. During the recent Covid-19 restrictions project organiser and traditional singer Fionnuala Maxwell embarked on a six week project, funded by Creative Ireland, with six cocooning members of the Drumsna/Annaduff area in South Leitrim. These were members of the older generation who were not technically proficient but would normally enjoy meeting and having a conversation in person. They got to grips with the Zoom platform and spent six lovely weeks reminiscing through songs and stories - about childhood days, school days, religious occasions, fairs, dances, beliefs and cures and plenty more! All conversations were recorded and will be shared as a Zoom compilation film mapping this futuristic journey into the past. The film will be shared through YouTube and through various Facebook pages, during National Heritage Week 2020. There is much for our younger generation to learn from the tales and songs shared, and others will no doubt identify with the images of simpler times in rural Ireland.
