A guided tour of Roscommon Castle

Nollaig Feeney
Roscommon County Council

Join Dr. Kieran O'Conor from NUI Galway as he takes us on a video tour of Roscommon castle. Roscommon Castle, begun in 1269 by the justiciar (the English king’s chief governor in Ireland) as a royal castle and occupied down until the late 17th century, is one of the most striking buildings of medieval date still standing in Ireland. Learn about the history, evolution and archaeology of the castle. This video will be available to the public on http://www.roscommoncoco.ie/en/Services/Community/Heritage/National-Heritage-Week/
