Bat Walk

Come find out about the story of Irish Bats on this night time walk around Coole Park on our ever-popular Bat Walk with NPWS Ranger Raymond Stephens.

Constellation Detective

This fun activity designed to introduce constellations visable in the Northern Hemisphere in August & to highlight some of the mythology stories associated with them. Followed by stargazing.

Glenribbeen Bat Walk

20, 21, 22, 23, 24 August - Glenribbeen Lodge, Glenribbeen (L5023), Lismore, Co Waterford

Booking Required 

Talk on Irish bats and then walk to Blackwater river along 270-year-old dike, talk on bats, local history and commerce (trains) and ice-houses. Bat Walk - along woodland path with a talk on bats, local social history and a chance to hear bats as they hunt. With luck we may get to observe the 4 most common Irish bats - perhaps even the Daubentons skimming over the river.

Bat Walk & Talk

20 August, 8:00pm - 10:15pm -  Rossmore Forest Park Carpark, Monaghan Town, Co. Monaghan

Booking Required

Join Bat Conservation Ireland to discover the mystery of bats of Rossmore Park. All are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear warm clothing & outdoor footwear. Talk will be at 8pm and then we will leave the carpark at 8.45pm.

Merlin Park Woods Bat Walk

20 August, 9:15pm – 11:00pm, Galway Bat Group, Merlin Park Woods Meet at Community Garden, Co. Galway 

Galway Bat Group will lead an informal talk & walk on the bats of Merlin Woods. We hope to see and listen to the calls of the bats present in the woods. Warm clothing and sturdy footwear is advised.

Come and learn about Ireland's Bats! The local conservation ranger will give a presentation on Bats, followed by a walk using Bat Detectors to help us spot our acro-BAT-ic flying friends!

We will explore the twilight life of the Ballivor Bats with Bat expert, Dr. Tina Aughney. A fun free event where we will discover what type of bats inhabit the village of Ballivor.

Bat Walk and Talk exploring bats found in the locality. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear. Please bring a torch is possible.

Aughnanure Castle Bat Walk

24 August, 9:15pm – 11:00pm - Aughnanure Castle, Oughterard, Co. Galway   

Galway Bat Group will lead an informal talk & walk on bats at Aughnanure Castle. We hope to see and listen to the calls of the bats present in the woods. Warm clothing & sturdy footwear is advised.

Nocturnal Wildlife Walk

24 August, 8pm - 10pm, NPWS, meet at Castlepollard Library carpark, Co. Westmeath

Wildlife ranger Triona Finnen will lead a night walk along the shore of Lough Derravaragh. Come along to see a variety of moths and bats.

Bat Talk and Walk from Pump House

25 August, 8:30pm - 11:30pm - Pump House, Wexford Wildfowl Reserve, North Slob, Wexford

Learn about and search for bats after sunset. Join us for a talk and guided walk with bat detector boxes to search for foraging bats. Torches, outdoor clothing and footwear recommended.

 

Bats about Newbridge at Sunset

25 August, 8:30pm - 10:30pmm - Liffey Linear Park Newbridge, Co. Kildare   

Enjoy a Bat walk & talk in the Liffey Linear Park - guide Anna Collins & experts from Kildare Bat Group. While a family friendly riverside event, children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

 

Bat Talk in Roscommon Castle 

25 August, 8:30pm – 10:00pm - Roscommon Castle in Loughnanene Park, Co. Roscommon

Ecologist David Fallon will give a talk on bats and has a bat detector for people to use. Please wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather and bring a torch. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
