It's in Your Nature!

From urban wildlife tours to foraging walks to building bee hotels, Heritage Week 2017 is all about being active, having fun and getting involved with our natural heritage. Find out more about the links between Ireland’s nature, history, culture and heritage at tours, walks, talks, exhibitions, outdoor activities and more.

National Heritage Week 2017 will take place from 19-27 August and we’re making 2017 the year we help more people learn about and enjoy Ireland’s nature.

From archaeology to architecture, folklore to placenames, Irish culture is deeply rooted in nature.  Take the time this Heritage Week to get outdoors and explore our natural heritage.

From coastal exploring to forest adventures there is something for everyone to enjoy this Heritage Week.  Best of all, most of the events are free!

Two very special days take place during the week. Wednesday 23 August is Wild Child Day and is dedicated to wild children everywhere with lots of great outdoors events planned.  Sunday 27 August is Water Heritage Day in partnership with the Local Authority Water and Communities Office with many events based around rivers, lakes and seas.

With over 2,000 events being planned across Ireland, see what's on near you.
