This walking tour will explore the pilgrimage heritage of Cork city, from medieval to modern times; led by Dr Louise Nugent and Dr Richard Scriven.
This tour will examine the important role of pilgrimage in the social, cultural, and religious life of Cork. It will include St FinBarre's Cathedral, Nano Nagle’s Grave, Our Lady of Graces in St Mary’s Pope’s Quay, and the St Francis’s Well on the North Mall. Dr Louise Nugent, an archaeologist, has published extensively on pilgrimage in medieval Ireland. Dr Richard Scriven, Geography UCC, researches pilgrimage in contemporary Ireland.
