How to Submit an Event
There are 3 Steps to Submitting an Event:
Step 1: Event Details
Step 2: Further Event Details
Step 3: Organiser Contact Detail
There are many ways to take part in National Heritage Week. If you can, involve children and families. Events can be held at a variety of venues, such as monuments and historical sites, parks andgardens, woodlands, wildlifereserves and inland waterways, schools, libraries and heritagecentres.
Involve organisations and people who are available to you such as local historians, wildlife experts, local authorities, schools, churches, community groups, youth clubs, drama groups, musicians, artists, and anyone who is willing to provide ideas, information and support.
Events should be free of charge where possible throughout the week. Where this is not possible, please try to offer special concessions, which acknowledge your participation in Heritage Week. In addition, we encourage you to organise the event well in advance of Heritage Week and to coordinate the planning of your event with other event organisers in your area in order to minimise overlapping of events.
NOTE: Organisers of events should ensure they have adequate insurance cover. For general information regarding insurance contact the Insurance Information Service, 39 Molesworth St, Dublin 2 ph: 01 676 1914.
Event Cancellation:
Should for any reason your event have to be cancelled please ensure you:
- Notify Rebecca Reynolds at the Heritage Council
- Work to advise your community of the cancellation as far in advance as possible.
Promotion and Publicity
The Heritage Council will work to promote Heritage Week nationally and will provide all organisers with posters and programmes with which to promote their activities. In addition to the material provided by the Heritage Council, all participants should try to promote their own events locally.
